Absolutely fantastic! – The interactive exhibition for strong children in Essen

More self-confidence, clear boundaries and strong children: Under the guiding principle
“Move – Strengthen – Protect” expands Be Strong For Kids eV’s commitment to child protection.

The well-known and proven prevention exhibition “Echt Klasse!” by Petze in the Ruhr area, implemented by the German Child Protection Foundation Hänsel+Gretel and the Sparda-Bank West Foundation, is visiting Essen.

Our shared goal is to playfully empower children aged 6 to 11, to raise their awareness of their own feelings and boundaries, and to protect them from boundary violations and sexualized violence.

The exhibition is generally used in primary schools and in the 5th/6th grade. Be Strong for Kids and the German Child Protection Foundation Hänsel+Gretel are now going a step further: In addition to schools, we now also want to give sports clubs the opportunity to “train” with Echt Klasse.

From our daily work, we know that sports clubs are central living and social spaces for children. Sport makes an important contribution to the healthy physical and mental development of children. However, this positive effect can only be sustained if child protection is firmly anchored as an equally important pillar in the everyday life of the club.

Our aim is therefore to place greater emphasis on child protection in sports, and together with schools and clubs, we want to create safe spaces for children. With “Echt Klasse!” (Really Great!), we want to make a concrete contribution to further expanding child protection in Essen’s sports clubs.

What is “Echt Klasse!” about?

The interactive exhibition consists of six stations where children can learn and practice important prevention content in an age-appropriate manner:
  • My body belongs to me – strengthening a positive body image
  • I am allowed to say no – Perceiving and protecting one’s own boundaries
  • Good and bad secrets – learning to distinguish between them and seeking help
  • Perceiving feelings – developing trust in one’s own gut feeling
  • Touch – Recognizing which touches are okay and which are not
  • Seeking help – Understanding that it is right and courageous to seek support.

What makes our approach special

Teachers and coaches from sports clubs participate in a four-hour child protection training course before visiting the exhibition. Afterwards, they accompany “their” children through the exhibition themselves. A specialist from Be Strong For Kids eV is on hand to provide support.
This approach builds trust, promotes sustainability, and ensures that the issue of child protection is anchored in everyday school and club life in the long term.
