Our Events

To raise awareness of the challenges faced by children who are ill, living with disabilities, or experiencing social disadvantage, BSFK regularly organizes unique sporting fundraising events. Past initiatives have included the “Ruhr Tour 2017”, a 120-kilometre non-stop stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) journey along the Ruhr River; the first-ever crossing of Lake Baldeney by a team of 15 swimmers; a relay run from the source of the Ruhr to its confluence with the Rhine; and a 24-hour SUP challenge. These events not only raise vital funds for our programmes but also help draw attention to the children and families we support.

“Echt Klasse!”

Strong Children. Safe Spaces. Together in Essen.

What does it feel like to say “no” and mean it? Who can I trust? And where can I turn for help?

With the interactive exhibition “Echt Klasse!”, Be Strong For Kids e.V. is bringing a proven prevention program to Essen – and for the first time, not only to schools but also to sports clubs.

Through a variety of interactive stations, children aged 6 to 11 learn how to recognize and trust their feelings, set healthy boundaries, and act with confidence. In a playful, age-appropriate, and engaging way, the exhibition empowers children to protect themselves from boundary violations and sexual abuse.

Together with schools, sports clubs, and strong community partners, we are creating safer environments for children – both in the classroom and on the playing field.

Heartwarmers

From the people of Essen, for the people of Essen: Once a year, our Heartwarmers campaign collects small gifts for children who are ill or facing difficult circumstances. Whether it’s to brighten a tough day, celebrate a birthday, or reward a child for completing a challenging medical treatment or examination, each gift is meant to bring a moment of joy and encouragement.

To date, the campaign has collected more than 12,000 gifts and raised over €1,500 in donations
